Rory's story of Warbirds Downunder
Student pilot Rory Nelson wondered how he was going to spend his birthday on 19 November. But when his wife woke him early and surprised him with not one, but two seats on our charter flight to Warbirds Downunder at Temora Aviation Museum he was ecstatic. The second ticket was for Rory's 11yo daughter Tyler, who was in on the big surprise with her mum and who loved the day despite the heat and dust. A seat under the shady wing of a DC3 created the perfect grandstand for the pair, along with Smartair's pilots Steve & Adam, who flew 13 aviation enthusiasts to Temora for the day.

Rory started flying (just a few birthdays ago) when he was 14, and 5 years ago started training again with us at Smartair almost reaching GFPT, then took up the controls again a year ago, and is now back up to GFPT after flying with each of our instructors when he can squeeze it in to his busy life which includes running his own construction company, Nelson Homes.

So what was the best part of the day? "Well, Tyler loved Connie (the large Super Constellation) - the idea of walking through it and then watching it fly and the sound of it really made an impact on Tyler. But for me the best part was flying there and back in 25 minutes - it definitely beats driving! Also we were with a really good bunch of blokes and the pilots are always good fun. My trip to Warbirds Downunder is the best birthday I've had in a while..."

Desert Floods is over for 2011
Sorry it's all over, red rover. Even though people still wanted to travel and the outback and channel country still looks spectacular it's hot, hot, hot out there. Our favourite oasis in the outback, Jim Smith's pub at Bedourie, is regularly recording temperatures in the high 30s, and the humidity is rising as well. This means air touring at relatively low altitude becomes rough and bumpy as the earth heats up and creates plenty of afternoon turbulence. We don't want our passengers to experience such discomfort on what is otherwise the trip of a lifetime, so no more Desert Floods tours until autumn 2012, if the weather gods are willing.

Thank you for your patronage this season, we hope you've had a fabulous time, and we look forward to telling you all about our summer Tasmanian air tour in just a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Kangaroo Island Hop
Oprah went there, and so do we! Kangaroo Island is the most diverse and beautiful place but it's a long way from Albury/Wodonga - unless you're in a plane! So we've put together a stunning 3-day, 2-night package which includes absolutely everything.

This is the ultimate tour which gives you a wilderness and wildlife experience, thanks to a local guide with a very comfortable 4WD. The local produce and wines just have to be tasted and our accommodation has magnificent sea views. Please contact us for more info.

See your place from the air!
If you live in Wirlinga, Table Top, Lara Lakes, Ettamogah, Doctors Point, Splitters Creek and Thurgoona Park, then read on... Thanks to the plentiful rains, Albury's Lake Hume is full and the region looks lush. Smartair has teamed up with award-winning photographer Simon Dallinger to capture one of the wettest springs on record and taken some spectacular and high quality aerial images around the fringes of Albury.

Looking for a special gift? An aerial photograph of your home is a very special and lasting memento. And if you're thinking of selling your property, a high quality image can be an invaluable sales tool. Click here to view or purchase.

Please pass this flyer on to your neighbours or real estate agent!
