Why do multi-engine training?
Flight training is aimed primarily at single-pilot operation of aircraft types, but multi-crew training can be incorporated on request. Training can be customised to comply with your companys Standard Operating Procedures.
What does the course involve?
A typical endorsement program consists of 6.5 hours flying covering:
- normal, abnormal and emergency operations
- circuits
- night and IFR procedures where appropriate
- practical enroute procedures.
Ask us about specific training requirements such as the Indian DGCA No Objection Certificate.
What is a typical course outline?
Each course commences with a comprehensive ground school on the aircraft type and its systems. Concise manuals with clear diagrams and pictures complement audio-visual learning aids. Experienced instructors are always available to provide advice to ensure the student knows the why as well as the 'what and how'.
Typically, the type conversion ground school takes:
- 20 hours for the B200 Super King Air
- 10 hours for the Piper PA34 Seneca 2
- 10 hours for the Piper PA31 Navajo/Chieftain.
Normal and emergency operations are clearly briefed prior to each flying sortie. Local procedures are thoroughly explained and tested to ensure that our students concentrate fully on the hands-on conversion training.
After the ground school, a complete familiarisation and walk-around of the aircraft is conducted with direct reference to the manufacturers manual.
Prior to flight training we cover:
- Cockpit checks,
- Pre-flight actions
- Flight planning considerations.

Where can I stay while training in Albury?
Training usually takes two weeks, and very reasonable weekly rentals are available. We can help you organise shared, self-contained housing only minutes from the airfield where the bedrooms are spacious and the neighbourhood quiet and conducive to study.
Alternatively, Albury/Wodonga offers a variety of accommodation styles with convenient dining or catering options.
Smartair will transfer you to and from your accommodation each day.
What if I am a CPL from India?
If you are a multi-engine endorsed commercial pilot from India who wants to train under the guidelines of the DGCA No Objection Certificate (NOC), you will need to obtain the Certificate from the DGCA prior to starting your training. The NOC is specific to you only and lists precisely what training needs to be conducted to meet the DGCAs endorsement requirements.
When you have obtained your NOC, Smartair will supply you with a Letter of Invitation to facilitate your travel visa.
Smartair will supply you with all the certificates required to complete the DGCA licensing process once you have satisfactorily completed the ground school and flying components.
